News about Green day

ARCHIVE - 11/28/05:
This has been a busy month for Green Day. On Nov. 1st, they released an awesome video for "Jesus of Suburbia" (check out the extra-long, uncensored version on http://www.greenday.com). AND, following up on American Idiot before things have even had a chance to cool down, the guys released the concert DVD, Bullet in a Bible, on November 15th (See Brain Stew section for reviews). The live concert video of "St. Jimmy" has just been hitting the airwaves over the last couple of days, so you can check that out to get a taste of what the whole DVD is like.

Even as Bullet in a Bible is giving Green Day fans sudden orgasms at the most inappropriate times, American Idiot is still working on its status as kick-ass album of the century. This past month alone the band won two awards, for Best Album of the Year, and Best Rock Band of the Year, at the MTV Europe Awards, as well as garnering nominations by the truckload. Just in November, the band was nominated for six Billboard music awards and eight Radio Music awards.

With the release of the "Jesus of Suburbia" single, Green Day also just became one of only three bands in history to have two albums with five chart-topping singles apiece. And Green Day is the only band to have done it over a ten-year period. The other two bands with this notch in their belts, R.E.M. and Linkin Park, accomplished this with back-to-back albums while in their prime. Few bands manage to come up with brilliant albums a decade apart from each other, as Green Day has.

On top of absorbing all that, any hardcore fan has gotta check out this month's cover of Kerrang (http://www.kerrang.com/), which features Green Day. Also take a look at (without necessarily buying) November's Rolling Stone, which has Billie Joe on the cover, but a disappointingly short article on the inside.

The less-than-totally-in-depth article is no surprise, since Rolling Stone has never given Green Day the props they deserve, and is probably at a bit of a loss for words at this point, as is anyone who previously dismissed the band as formulaic three-cord bubble gum punk. As the events of these last few months have shown, the music industry is now falling all over itself to proclaim Green Day music to be the heart and soul of rock, and Green Day lyrics to be tapped into the boiling bloodstream of disenfranchised American society.

Billie Joe, Mike, Tre and newcomer Jason White are not about to let their fans down. They've got a busy month ahead of them with tons of TV appearances lined up.

This is the score, according to greenday.com:

-The 2005 MTV Europe Music Video Awards will air on December 9th on MTV2 at 3:00pm.

-FUSE will be airing Live at Irving Plaza December 3rd at 12:00 and 7:00pm, and December 4th at 9:00am and 1:30pm. You can catch 100 Percent with Green Day on December 2nd at 6:30 and 10:30pm, December 3rd at 11:00am and 6:30pm, and December 4th at 1:00pm. And THEN catch Comp'd: Green Day, again on FUSED on December 4th at 6:00 and 8:00pm, December 7th at 11:00am, December 8th at 6:00 and 10:00pm, December 10th at 4:00pm, and December 11th at 12:00pm and 6:30pm. Bullet in a Bible will also be aired on FUSE December 3rd at 11:30am and 6:00pm, December 4th at 12:00 and 9:00pm, December 6th at 11:00am, December 10th at 1:00pm, and December 11th at 3:00pm and 10:00pm.

Whew! And who says your favorite bands don't love you, baby?
